Demystifying Sustainable construction

A regional event for Local Authority Members, RSL's and Tenant Representatives at the Building Research Establishment, Watford

April 28th 2006

I found the whole seminar and walkabout very interesting - I found it useful to think about (sustainability) in terms of application for council buildings, especially schools

In April, 21 Local Authority Members, Registered Social Landlords and Tenant Representatives from Cambridge and the sub regions attended an event at the Building Research Establishment in Watford looking at sustainable construction.

Oliver Novakovic, Director of Innovative Housing gave a presentation on modern methods of construction followed by a question and answer session. Delegates were then led on a tour of the BRE's Innovative Park, which showcases full-scale demonstration houses built using the latest construction methods. The houses trial and demonstrate new and emerging technologies for buildings like renewables and other environmental systems, smart IT and sensor technologies.
