Masterplanning: How to Translate the Vision into Practice

Friday 23rd October 2009
12 - 4.30pm, The Basildon Centre, Basildon

Wednesday 28th October 2009
12.30 - 5pm, The Maltings, Ely

"This event has taught me how to get the upmost from your masterplan"

Masterplanning: How to translate the vision into practice was the second in our series of 6 seminars open to Local Authority Officers and Councillors in the Eastern region. The programme has been funded by Improvement East, and the days were run in both Basildon and Ely.

Once again, both events began with a well-used networking lunch, providing the time and space for delegates from over 25 different Local Authorities in the Eastern region to exchange ideas, concerns, as well as remark upon and discuss the lessons of the previous seminar.

The day brought together leading experts who presented on a wide variety of topics crucial to the region. Each presentation was followed by an extremely well-utilised question and answer session. The presentations in this second masterplanning seminar included:

  • How to get the most from your Masterplan, David Prichard, Metropolitan Workshop
  • Design codes and how to achieve character and identity where none exists, Jonny Mckenna and David Prichard, Metropolitan Workshop
  • The Adamstown Development, Dublin, Fionnuala Lennon (Basildon) and Paul Hogan (Ely)
  • The Urban Place Supplement: What is happening in Essex? Barry Shaw, Essex County Council
