This workshop was held on 13th March 2008 in the City Council's Small Hall close by the new Grand Arcade case study. Planning Officers, Councillors and architects attended the Building in Context workshop, which has been designed to provide practical tools to analysis sites and character appraise the context of a development in and adjoining historic areas.
Rob Cowan, nationally renowned commentator on urban design led this training event to analyse The Grand Arcade a new retail development in the heart of the historic city centre of Cambridge. A tour of the site formed part of the day.
A brief summary of the case study is on the Building in CONTEXT website: http://www.building-in-context.org/previous.htm
