The Home Run'The Home Run' at the Great Eastern Run
Sunday 12 October

Shape East is helping Peterborough City Council and the residents of Dogsthorpe to create a ‘temporary landmark building’ for the day to greet and cheer the runners in the Great Eastern Run on their way.

Fulbridge Primary School children, their carers and neighbours are helping to design a ‘landmark for the day’. With help from Peterborough Museum, and the Greater Dogsthorpe Partnership, young people, elders and the wider community of Dogsthorpe will help to instruct Shape’s ‘design team’ as to the characteristics of a ‘landmark’ which reflects favourite buildings and places from Peterborough itself and all the different places that the communities of Dogsthorpe hold dear.

Come and see this 'way marker' at Fulbridge Recreation Ground. For more information, visit our community pages.

Building in Context: Workshop 4

Friday 7 November 2008
The Key Theatre, Peterborough
Peterborough provides a case study for this fourth Building in Context seminar for Design and Heritage Champions, planning, regeneration and conservation officers and Elected Members.

In common with many cities in the East of England, Peterborough is facing rapid expansion with ambitious growth targets. In the next 20 years it is planned to grow by 20,000 jobs, 25,000 homes and 40,000 more people.  As part of its ambitious Master Plan, Peterborough one of four ‘Environmental Cities’ in the UK, will welcome the largest zero-carbon housing pilot in the UK, create a number of new University Centres and face challenges of marrying new and historic architecture.

Led by Rob Cowan, nationally renowned commentator on urban design, we will focus on the unexploited area of the South Bank (of the River Nene) in Peterborough, which provides fantastic opportunities for redevelopment and the location of housing, office and leisure facilities.
